Microloans
Microloans provide small amounts of capital to elderly citizens to expand or start a business. Small loans make an immediate impact within Kibera’s micro-economy. See how even small donations can produce ripple-effects among the Wazee. From suffering to sustenance…
Healthcare Vouchers
Healthcare Vouchers provide the monies needed for entrance fees into Kibera’s system of government and NGO sponsored clinics, hospitals, and dentists. But even a $7 fee is out of reach for many impoverished elderly; who consider even the most basic healthcare a luxury item. Sadly, this despair will effect the small children many wazee care for. Learn how donating to the foundation’s voucher program can help swing the balance between despair and dignity.
Community Engagement
There is joy among the wazee, and friendships and stories and singing and smiles when the wazee gather together. The Wazee Foundation sponsors events throughout each month for the wazee to come together and enjoy community and fellowship. Some events teach skills such as hygiene and cooking as well as more serious topics like anti-rape training…yes, the elderly are raped in Kibera.
